Mixed emotions day

Here it is July 14, 2009. What a day it has been.

We are running out of time. We will soon be the numbers that the Washington Administration will brag about. The folks no longer on unemployment. Not because we got jobs. It will be because we no longer collect unemployment. They wont tell the whole truth. They will try to lead people to believe we are better off and working. NOT! Neither of us have jobs. We are going to lose our home and probably our cars will be reposessed. That of course will leave us with no credit to get another car with and no money to get one with and no way to get to jobs since we don't live where there is public transportation. I am 61 and he is 53 and we feel there is no hope. No hope at all. He is a Microcomputer Specialist with 30 years experience that has counted for nothing with some places he applied and counted as to much with others. I am experienced but it is for nothing because I am 61. How can I compete with millions of 20 and 30 year olds looking for jobs? I have taken tests and more tests and passed them with amazing scores. I have gone through phone interviews and face to face interviews. Why would a 30 year old want to hire someone their grandmother's age? We are OLD to them. Where do we go from here? A box under a bridge and eating out of dumpsters? What a way to finish out our lives. It isn't like we can ask our kids to take care of us. They have their own struggles. One lives in his father's basement. One is trying not to have his house foreclosed. One is just starting her life with a new baby and a husband who will soon have his doctorates degree and wondering if he will be able to find a job. Thank you Washington for saying you are saving us from the horrors of the previous administration. Heck, back then we had jobs, good credit, a roof over our heads, food to eat and a future.
