Unemployed

Well, I have not posted in some time. Got to thinking the other day that it is time I started up in here in earnest. I think it is time to vent a little. No one reads my Blog so it wont matter if I hurt anyone's feelings.

Searching for a job at the age of 60 is not easy. Oh sure, there are laws out there against age discrimination, but lets face it!! No one follows the laws. There are so many loopholes and ways around it it might as well not even be there.

Searching for a job when one is not one of the "pretty people" is crazy. If one is not good looking, blonde, young and somewhat dumb one doesn't get a job. I don't think amount of education really plays a part. It is the looks that takes the cake.

Do I sound a tad upset? Sure, why not? With over 10 million people out of work employers figure it is their market and they can take their time and pick and choose. Makes sense. Sometimes.

I would love to see a survey done of every corporation in this country. EVERY ONE! The survey would ask if they hired pretty young people as versus old and ugly and of those they hired in that category how many lasted more than 6 months? How many took excessive time off? How many had to be disciplined? It would be interesting to see the results. Especially if they were honest with their answers.

My last employer is the type of person that caused unions to be formed. He thumbs his nose at all the labor laws. You work for him and on his rules only. Labor laws are just a pain in his neck. This is why I somewhat fear the collapse of the unions. They did get to powerful, but the workers need protection. The world of corporate America is not a good world. Work everyone to death so the top brass can have a fancy life style and big bonuses. Sweat shops will come back so darned fast it isn't funny. I don't believe in the Liberal share the wealth thing, but I do believe Corporations have to remember that their money comes from the little guy who slaves away each day and then spends his/her paycheck on the products they produced. If we didn't there would be no corporations and no fat bonuses. The guys in the big fancy offices don't know how to work the production lines. They would be whining worse than a 4 year old in 5 minutes.

There is honor in age and wisdom. People don't have to be pretty to be good at what they do. We need to make these younger people who decide who works for them or not realize that older ugly folks are usually a better choice. There is a work ethic that comes with them.

Wake up America! We are going down the tubes and need to stop the downfall now!!
